We were looking for 280+ on the board - Ponting

Ricky Ponting is devastated after five wicket defeat.
Ponting team arrived in India having confidence to win a fourth consecutive World Cup. Australia were the only team who was unbeaten in the contest some days ago and remained favorite for clinching another trophy in subcontinent, but it was so much devastating for Aussies to knock out in the quarter-final with India in Ahmedabad.
Ponting expressed his feelings after five-wicket defeat. He said, "I am devastated. We came here with high expectations and having well ordered side that had come off a good series of one-day cricket with England". Ponting said, "We had ample of time to train and at this stage we thought regarding the triumph over India easily but some critical moments have changed and cost us the game. We did not have long partnerships neither we could put pressure with the ball. Some little moments of such types diverted the angle of the game from us".
Ponting said, "I notion we were 15 or 20 runs short with the bat. After we saw the first over Ashwin bowled and how much it spun, we thought to ourselves than 250 or 260 looked like it would be a good total out there. As it turned out, we got that, but we perhaps could have got more. India played well as a team. Gambhir, Tendulkar, Yuvraj all touched fifties, and got them at a rational rate. Their bowling was stable. Zaheer was good, especially right at the end of the innings in the Power-play over".
