Mushfiqur Rahim and Imrul Kayes hug each other after sealing six-wicket win over Netherlands, Bangladesh v Netherlands, Group B, World Cup 2011, Chittagong, March 14, 2011
Bangladesh enclosed a six-wicket triumph over Netherlands in Chittagong for a live contest for themselves. This win escalated the stress on English team, who will now have to beat West Indies to qualify for World Cup quarter-final. Although Shafi ul Islam was wicket less in his both spells but it proved an instrumental for spinners who restricted the Netherlands to 160.
In the chasing of 161, Bangladesh side was jolted when their opener Tamim Iqbal was bowled for a duck while facing four deliveries, but Netherlands could not stabilize this jerky style as Imrul Kayes took full control to thrust Bangladesh to victory in their homeland. Abdur Razzak's 3 for 29 is his third three-wicket haul in World Cups. He has been occupied in three of the top five World Cup bowling performances for Bangladesh. The 92-run stand between Imrul Kayes and Junaid Siddique is the highest for the second wicket for Bangladesh in World Cups. The previous highest was 73 between Tamim Iqbal and Siddique against India in the first game of the 2011 World Cup. During the itinerary of his half-century, Ryan ten Doeschate became the highest run getter for Netherlands in World Cups. He now has 329 runs at an average of 54.83.
