Shahid Afridi's side is two games away from repeating the heroic history of 1992 after notching up a blistering victory over West Indies in their quarter-final in Mirpur, Dhaka. Muhammad Hafeez showed stand-out performance with bat and ball, claiming two important wickets before ending with a brisk unbeaten innings of 61, while Shahid Afridi and Saeed Ajmal got more scalps as Pakistan slow bowlers produced a ruthless display to restrict frail West Indies to 112.
Shahid Afridi continued his outstanding contest with four wickets, while Muhammad Hafeez electrified with the new ball while Saeed Ajmal played key role for the lower order. Only three West Indian players touched the double line figure while Shivnarine Chanderpaul's under-pressure knock of 44 went to futile. Pakistan's spinners had terrific figures of 27.3-5-64-8, West Indian's awful fortune started when Chris Gayle was preyed while facing to Umar Gul and then his dismissal Hafeez stunned West Indies after taking two swift wickets. Pakistan now moves to Mohali where they will face either India or Australia [defending champions], this is their first journey to India since 2007.
