Lasith blasted the tail of Kenya as struck with hat-trick, Sri Lanka v Kenya, Group A, World Cup 2011, Colombo, March 1, 2011
Lasith Malinga become the only bowler to pick up two hat-tricks in World Cups, his previous one was against South Africa in 2007. Lasith Malinga declared his fitness by storming his way to an exceptional second World Cup hat-trick with an exceptional show of Yorkers that derailed Kenya at 142-run despite two half centuries from Obuya brothers, which shared a determined 94-runs stand.
The visitors were 102 for 2 at a stage but Malinga's sparkling bowling demolished the tail as eight wickets were blasted for just 40 runs. Tanmay Mishra was the first victim of Malinga's hat-trick after missing a full delivery on leg stump to fall for a 13-ball duck. It was the final ball of the over, and Malinga gave Peter Ongondo the warmest welcome possible to the tournament in the first ball of his next - a yorker that deracinated middle stumps. The staggered dismissals destined many in the crowd weren't sentient that Malinga was on a hat-trick. He steamed in and middle stump was dismantled again next ball, the clueless batsman this time was Shem Ngoche. Sri Lankan players fired on Kenya bowlers by dazzling boundaries and they accomplished the target in just 19th over for loss of Dilshan's wicket.
