Chris Gayle's smashing innings of 43 from 21 balls was ended by an lbw to player of match James Tredwell, England v West Indies, World Cup, Group B, March 17, 2011
England created another thriller in World Cup tournament to make chances of reaching the World Cup quarter-final as they wrapped an emerging victory in monstrous fighting against West Indies in Chennai. England wobbled before James Tredwell and Swann wrecked by their promising bowling recital. West Indies were on course of 244 for victory, but they staggered as they lost their last four wickets for just three runs in 20 deliveries.
Strauss decided to bat first on good batting track in Chennai, openers cracked the shots, Jonathan boomed by his luxurious shots, he hit six fours from his first nine balls faced; Luke Wright also substantiated his first call-up of the campaign with key runs of 44. West Indies could not rationalized the pressure as they lost wickets gradually, Sarwan and Russell made hopes for their side but after their departure, West Indies tail-enders glided to the pavilion while English team moved to third spot of Group B. England did not qualify for quarter-finals yet, next two crucial contests Bangladesh versus South Africa and West Indies with India would settle the fate of England.
