South Africa ended the Bangladesh World Cup campaign as they prevailed in finale group match against Bangladesh by a huge margin 206-run in Mirpur. Bangladesh was not favorites to win versus mighty South Africa especially they blown air to thrust the score up to 284. Bangladesh batting line proved feeble before the stand-out bowling performances from Proteas side. No host player reached in double figure against South Africa in their virtual pre-quarterfinal except skipper who made 30 while faced 49 deliveries. Blistering bowling by Lonwabo Tsotsobe caused the substantial spectators at the Shere Bangla Stadium to quickly start deteriorating. They were still in the jerk of lowest score by their team against West Indies earlier in the tournament and faced another heavy blow today to diminish the chances of Bangladesh in World Cup 2011.
This was after South Africa came out roaring in the morning, and the hard base that the openers gave allowed Jacques Kallis and Faf du Plessis to secure and accelerate flawlessly, giving their spin-heavy attack a substantial mitigate to smother Bangladesh and bowl them to the top the group. That they did so with 206 runs to spare was an indication to how the fight completely went out of Bangladesh, and also confirmed England's qualification for the knockouts.
The 206-run crush is the second largest for Bangladesh in ODIs and their largest margin of defeat in World Cups. The previous highest margin of defeat in World Cups was the 198-run loss to Sri Lanka in 2007. This is Bangladesh's second score under 100 in World Cups. They now share the record for most team scores below 100 with Canada, Namibia and Ireland. Bangladesh's 78 are their sixth-lowest score in ODIs and their lowest against South Africa. Three of their top six lowest scores have come in Dhaka. Bangladesh scored just seven runs in the bowling Power-play which is the lowest score by a team in the bowling Power-play in the contest. The previous lowest was nine runs by Kenya against Sri Lanka. Bangladesh has been much poorer in ODIs in Mirpur than in the games played in Chittagong. They have been bowled out twice under 100 in Mirpur and average just 16. In Chittagong, they average 32.75 and score at a slightly higher run rate. The win is South Africa's eighth by a margin of 200 runs or more in ODIs. It is also the third-largest margin of victory for South Africa in World Cups.
