V Sehwag    54(56)                R Ponting    57(85)

B Lee        3/35 (10 over)            P Chawla    4/31(9 over)

What a splendid entertainment from cricket world cup at Bangalore, India came back with top class spin bowling, especially Piyush Chawla showed his best as took 4 important wickets side by side Harbhajan Singh bowled three Australian players. As India went for batting after winning the toss, they scored only 214 on a batting pitch after good bowling by Brett Lee, he took 3 wickets. Only Virender Sehwag scored 50 and remaining his mates did not show high class batting against Australian seamers. After falling the wicket of Gautam Gambhir, Sehwag and Kohli played well but Kohli bowled out when the score was 54. Yuvraj Singh also did not show responsible innings, he scored only single score. Ashwin & Y Pathan stood well at the crease and team score reached up to 214.

Australian openers Shane Watson & Tim Paine batted well and in just 7.5 over they scored 51, then medium pacer Sreesanth bowled out Watson after caught by Chawla, then skipper Ponting demonstrated good show and the partnership between wicketkeeper and captain was 51 as Paine caught by Patel when Yuvraj bowled him, his score was 37 in 57 balls including 4 boundaries, after the wicket of Paine, no batsman scored in double digit expect Johnson who played for 19 balls and scored 15 runs. Ponting tried to stand at one end and scored 57 runs but he was stumped out by Harbhajan Singh, in just 58 runs, Australian batting line collapsed, spin bowlers Chawla and Harbhajan played vital role in this crumple.

In post match presentation, Dhoni said, "It will be difficult to chase anything over 230 odd on such kinds of tracks. I would be pleased if the wicket turns slightly less in future matches. Piyush has a good googly and now-a-days we see that the umpires give more lbws. When commentator asked to Ponting, he said, "It was hard to bat on right through the day. It spun a lot in the second innings. Hopefully as the tournament goes on, we will get better wickets than this one. This one looked a bit under prepared. Whereas, Piyush Chawla expressed his feelings in the ceremony and said, "It's a great feeling. When I started to bowl in the first Power play, the ball was turning and I knew if I bowled well, there was something for the spinners here. My place in the eleven will depend on things. We have quite a few good spinners. If the pitch is slow and helps spinners, I will have a good chance to make it."

Australia showed some iffy batting while India slow bowlers availed this opportunity and targeted in good line and length.
