Pakistan are rejoicing their 11-run victory, Sri Lanka v Pakistan, World Cup, Group A, Colombo, February 26, 2011
Pakistan outfit are great threat for every team and hazardous contenders for the World Cup, with their tremendous skill in the middle over in both innings, they presented a striking and stupendous game, Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan, and both shared 108-runs stand when Pakistan openers returned to Pavilion at 105 for 3 in 21st over, they propelled Pakistan to a fighting score 277. Whereas chasing by Sri Lanka, Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Akhtar produced a magic spells to derail the strong batting line up of rival. Chamara Silva threatened to pull off a breathtaking heist with a flurry of boundaries, and Nuwan Kulasekara made one heroic last-ditch effort to diminish the equation to 18 runs from the final over. Umar Gul, however, held his nerve to push Pakistan home and end a enticing exhibition of high-quality cricket in Colombo.
Shahid Afridi made a match-winning spell, Sri Lanka v Pakistan, World Cup, Group A, Colombo, February 26, 2011
Pakistan beat Sri Lanka at Sri Lanka home grounds in 17 years World Cup history. Shahid Afridi was titled with Player of Match after miraculous bowling 4 for 34 and a little contribution in the batting. "Toss is very important for us", Pakistan vice captain Misbah-ul-Haq said. Skipper Afridi assured that every match is a challenge for us and we will learn from mistakes which we did during the field while some dropping catches and a few miss fielding behind the stumps. Sri Lanka captain Kumara Sangakkara esteemed Pakistan's efforts and told about chasing that this score was not hard for us but at wrong time, our three crucial wickets had fallen and unfortunately Pakistan played well.
