Bangladesh vs Ireland
Bangladesh bowlers did not lose hope after the failures of their batsmen, as Irish team proved inadequate to conquer the keenest atmosphere of the World Cup so far. In a low-scoring encounter at Mirpur, Bangladesh batsmen showed iffy batting techniques, 44 is highest score in Bangladesh innings which Tamim Iqbal scored in 43 balls including 7 boundaries. When Ireland reached 93 for 3 at the halfway mark of their reply of 205, Bangladesh spin set the stage for a quick finish from Shafiul Islam who claimed 4 for 21 in 8 over and reverse swinging over to seal the incredible victory by 27 runs with five over to spare.
The outcome was harsh on the Irish who, like the Netherlands earlier in the week, gave the match their all and deserved a Test-playing scalp as their reward. But the belief and unity of the Bangladesh outfit had to be seen to be believed, and set about defending their meager total with skill, stubbornness and some sublime commitment in the field.
