My team has capacity to play semi – final, Pakistan skipper

Pakistan Cricket Team
Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi is very optimistic regarding his team, His side left for Bangladesh on Friday where they will play two warm – up matches against Bangladesh and England, before leaving to Bangladesh, Shahid Afridi feels his side the most dangerous team at the World Cup. For the first time in three world cup campaigns, Pakistan seems with a fresh looking squad and very hopeful regarding the good results in the tournament. Disastrous first round exits in 2007 & 2003 were compounded by the absence of new faces, but this time, seven out of 15 man squad have not played more than 35 ODIs and for eight, this will be the first World Cup.

Afridi said that we had good young players like Umar Akmal, Ahmad Shehzad, Wahab Riaz who are very promising with their goals, my team is a mixture of some experienced guys although they have no experienced in playing world cup before this like Misbah – ul – Haq, Saeed Ajmal and Abdur Rehman, but I see us as the most dangerous side at the World Cup. He also said that he would show good cricket in world cup and confine the critics regarding his performance and captaincy records.

Afridi's own World Cup record is poor. In 12 games, spread over three tournaments, he averages 11.36 with the bat and 39.85 with the ball, an aberration he is keen to rectify. "I've not been good at past World Cups, but my role and position has never been fully settled going into them. I go into this feeling better and much more positive and, importantly, my role and place is clearer than it has been in past tournaments. There are good times and bad times but I'm hoping this will be a good World Cup for us.
